Are you preparing your home to host fun events this holiday season? We can help! Take a look at these several important necessities that can transform your gatherings into impressive holiday parties that everyone will praise.
Do you have enough dinnerware in your house? Are you stocked up on matching plates and glasses? What about silverware? Dinnerware is both important to your event and an easy way to impress guests. Always try to match the right dinnerware with the setting. For example, if you have an outdoor gathering, you will want lightweight, small plates and platters that are easy to move around, and food that’s easy to eat without utensils. If you are setting up indoors, larger dinnerware is more appropriate, but make sure you have enough! Glasses for cold drinks and mugs for hot drinks are always a good idea, and you may want to include TV trays or other portable eating options on your list.
A Bar Area
A home bar is an incredibly satisfying remodel to make, and a perfect hosting area for your friends. Of course, not everyone has the time to remodel a whole section of the kitchen or dining room into a bar. Fortunately, there are other ways to set up a bar area in your home, especially if you have extra counter space. It doesn’t have to be complicated — a simple tray with a selection of drinks/accessories is usually enough. For larger homes, consider converting a wheeled table into a mobile bar setup.
The holidays tend to bring a temperature drop, so it’s a good idea to include extra warming options when your guests start getting chilly. There are many ways to do this! Including extra throw blankets (both indoors and outdoors) gives people the opportunity to wrap up if they are cold. Space heaters or table heaters can provide heat to a whole group while they are enjoying other activities like eating or games. If you have a fireplace, remember to maintain it and start it up when the sun goes down. Your guests will thank you!
Enough Dining Furniture
Holiday events can get a little crowded, but people still need a place to sit. If you don’t have enough furniture for friends and family, it may be time to invest in additional seating options. We’re particularly fond of storage benches, which provide extra mobile seating and a few new storage compartments, that way you don’t have to give up as much space. However, keeping a few fold-out chairs around is another alternative if you don’t have many other options.
A Living Room Designed for Entertainment
Design your living room seating and entertainment with an eye on social gatherings. Keep pathways broad (not blocked off by furniture), and make sure seating is set against the wall and, when possible, facing other seating; this facilitates comfortable conversation. The TV isn’t as important as keeping the area open and friendly.
